The Presidential Management Fellows Program (PMF) - is designed to attract to the Federal service outstanding men and women from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs. Interns can be appointed at the grades 9 through 12, of which the first two years of their appointment is in the excepted service. Upon successful completion of a two-year development program, interns may be noncompetitively converted to career-conditional appointments in the competitive service.
